The main campus of Stetson University marks the tail end of historic Deland, Florida. Across the street is the Deland Museum of Florida Art, which you can visit free of charge. Up the street a few more blocks is the historic district, which holds a few book and music stores, antique shops, and a number of restaurants. During the week, stop by the Deland House Museum, which also houses the medical museum.
